MS-SC Ply Stacking Chair

Inspired by Alvar Aalto, Keith Muller & Michael Stewart MS-SC ply stacking chairs. Designed in Canada in 1968. Made with one piece of ply and manufactured by Ambiant Systems, Toronto. Natural (not shown here) and stained green, red, and blue.

These iconic chairs were part of the 2016 exhibition held at the Gardiner Museum titled TRUE NORDIC which aimed to highlight the influence of Nordic Culture on Canadian Design. The chair was also a part of “The Modern Eye: Craft and Design in Canada, 1940-1980 at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria in 2011 and was held in the permanent collection at The Design Exchange (RIP) in Toronto.
