Rust and cream earthenware pitcher for Red Wing Pottery, 1945-1946.
In the mid-1940s, Red Wing Pottery commissioned Zeisel to create a “Greenwich Villagey” dinner service. The resulting line of dinnerware, in free-form organic shapes with mix-and-match colors, was promoted by Red Wing as “contemporary, functional, colorful, smart” to complement the more casual lifestyles of young post-World War II consumers.
