Andy Warhol, “INDIAN” GIANT POSTER, 1977
This is a giant exhibition poster from the 1977
exhibition “American Indian” – which focused
on portraits of Russell Means.
Unlike commissioned portraits of the era,
Warhol used publicity shots (similar to earlier
works of Liz, Marilyn and Elvis) to depict this
Native American actor. Warhol did more hand
embellishments to these silkscreens on canvas
unlike similar work from the 1960’s.
48″H 34″W framed with museum glass.
Offset lithograph poster. USA, 1977.
