Djiin Lounge Chair Olivier Mourgue for Airborne 1965 The name "Djinn" refers to an Islamic spirit capable of changing shape. The Djiin lounge chair, also known as "2001" chair, became a famous design icon after it's prominent appearance in Stanley Kubrick's  2001: A Space Odyssey. Olivier Mourgue created undulating, low-slung seating for home and commercial environments. He experimented with color and material, flexibility and disposability with zip-off stretch nylon jersey covers. Born in 1939 in Paris, Olivier Mourgue trained in Paris, Finland and Sweden. By his mid-twenties he was recognized as an innovative leader in furniture design. He is also a painter, landscape designer and the author of Imaginary Gardens and Little Theatres. Original dark purple fabric shows signs of wear. SOLD
