1970s Knoll Sling Sofa
1970s Knoll Sling Sofa
Three-seater Sling Sofa, designed by Bruce Hannah and Andrew Morrison for Knoll, New York, 1971. Inspired by the extruded aluminum of a sailboat mast, the designers were fascinated by the way sails slot into a channel on a sailboat mast, leading them to apply this engineering concept to furniture. “Demountable Design”, easily disassembled with an Allen wrench. Polished cast-steel and off-white powder-coated steel frame shows light nicks/scuffs consistent with age/use, and the steel back frame bar shows light scuffing. Recently upholstered seat & back in two-tone charcoal grey and soft white blend.
