A fantastic and hard to find mid century glazed art pottery lamp by Canadian-Czech artists Eva and Milan Lapka. Milan was apparently responsible for forms and Eva for glazing. Montreal, 1970s.

Height 33" x 8" diameter at base. (Ceramic Base 20.5"h x 8" diameter. Lotte shade, 16"h x 13"), 

Eva and Milan Lapka arrived in Montreal from Czechoslovakia in 1968 after the Prague Spring.

Eva studied at the College of arts and crafts, Brno, Czechoslovakia. She was the Head of the ceramics department at Visual Arts Centre, Montreal from 1999 until 2013 and a Professor of ceramics at VAC, Montreal. She is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.

Milan Lapka taught ceramics technology at the Institut des metiers d’art and the Commission de formation professionnelle in Montréal from 1988 to 1993, and from 1996 to 1998 was a teacher of art in the program for children with learning disabilities and the program for mentally challenged children, also at the Visual Arts Centre in Montréal.
