Pepe Cortes Jamaica Stools

Beautiful curves on these Pepe Cortes Jamaica stools. Solid varnished beech seats, chromed steel structure, five legs and swivel seat. 36 1/2” h by 20”w by 19”. Made in Spain early 2000s. In excellent original condition. 2 available, SOLD SEPARATELY.

Born in Barcelona in 1946, Pepe Cortés studied at the Eina School, where he later lectured in design. He co-founded the Open Design Group during the early 1970s. He was involved in iconic interior design projects of that era, including "Oriol" and "Cubic" jewellery stores, the "Werner" record store and the offices of the "Poliglas" company. He was also recognised with a FAD award for the design of the "Azulete" restaurant. In the 1990s, he designed the Jamaica stool for BD. He has since been awarded the Santiago Marco Prize medal in 2002 and the National Design Award in 2007 for his work, appearing in various national and international publications and exhibitions.
